Sr. High Math

Hello. I'm Mrs. Whipple and I love math and music!  I have had almost 30 years of teaching experience.  Currently I teach Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, and Advanced Math, which consists of Pre-Calculus and Trig.  I have had past experience  teaching Personal Finance, junior high math, a math lab,  a Jr Math class, tutoring, and worked for several years as a math coach for the district amidst my teaching responsibilities.  I have prior experience teaching across many  subjects and all grade levels and also currently teach music for the district as well, including a period of choir at Kootenai High School and a period of elementary music at Harrison Elementary.

Math websites I like to utilize include for graphing calculator work, for programmed lessons, for reinforcement of content, and I suggest Professor Dave or Mario Math on Youtube (among others) for demonstrations of concepts if students need more concept understanding than what I give them in class.  I often post these on Google Classroom for students to further their background knowledge or to give them content options.

Personally,  I was born in Indiana and moved to Spokane in 5th grade.  I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Education from Washington State University, and have a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Idaho.  I am both elementary and secondary certified.  I've studied abroad in Scotland and Malaysia, but my favorite getaway is to the Big Island of Hawaii.  My husband and I live on 16 acres on the Harrison Flats with a tree and bird farm, and I have 3 grown boys who graduated from Kootenai and are all serving in the army. We have a dog, 3 cats, and a number of chickens and pheasants.

I truly want my students to have a mathematical understanding. I am available for tutoring before school most days, at lunch and after school by appointment.  Please don't hesitate to reach out to me for help!
